Cable and Connectors
While definitely not the most exciting subject, no system of any kind works well without them. If you are putting a system together and fail to consider them and the quality of the choices you make regarding them, your system will most definitely not respond with the performance you started out to get.
Cable comes in a myriad of choices in any given type. The cable you see below, in both sizes, RG58* type and RG8* type, is a very low loss grade so that maximum signal is transferred to and from your antenna. The loss factor is almost one third that of the regular coaxial cable. The lower the loss per foot, the longer the run can be and still have a reasonable signal level at the other end. You don't want to spend a lot of money on an amplifier only to loose all that you gained in the cable.
*These are the better known coaxial cable types. LMR195 and LMR400 are the same diameter with lower loss per foot and more flexible for easier handling.
Almost the same considerations can be applied to connectors. Usually the prime specs are in the material and the fit of the cable. Most all of our connectors are plated in Silver with gold plated center contacts. With these types of materials you can be assured of maximum RF energy transfer and long life.
